Auslogics BoostSpeed 4.0 ScreenshotA good all-inclusive computer performance enhancement utility

I’ve been quite happy with this application so far, and have observed it over the past month or more. During that time there have been a few regular updates released, each offering a little bit of improvement. It works well with both XP and Vista, so no matter which camp you’re in...it’s bound to help you gain a bit of computer performance.

Two of the most important elements would have to be the Disk Defrag and Registry Defrag, both of which are available as free individual downloads from Auslogics if you don't want to invest in the entire application.

As for the actual application itself, in particular the disk cleaner function is good at getting files that are hidden in places you wouldn’t normally know to empty such as Symantec or other AntiVirus program temporary update folders and Windows Updates temp folders, etc.

The Registry cleaner has also eliminated a lot of erroneous junk for me, and when running the registry defrag it makes the system feel a fair a bit faster.

There are some other interesting features that are too numerous to mention here, but they basically allow you to tune a lot of Windows things that are normally not easily accessible, and it’s laid out quite well to handle these things. Almost everything is real time too without reboots, with the exception of the Registry Defrag and perhaps some other things like login changes.

Overall if you want to get a little more speed out of your system, you’re disappointed by the lack of interactivity of the Windows Vista Disk Defrag (or want one that’s faster, especially on BitLocker encrypted Vista drives) I would have no problem recommending this suite.

I haven’t used any real tune up programs since way back when Norton Utilities was big with Windows 98, and I can see that this program works quite efficiently with the newer Windows XP and Vista varieties. Lastly, if you do have problems with changes you’ve made there is a Rescue Centre where you can reverse any changes you’ve made to the registry or other areas of the system that can be dangerous if you go beyond the normal presets the program recommends.  Therefore this program is also very safe for novice to intermediate users.
